Free Passes to Class
Receiving passes for class travel is simple. Just check your account.
Through the miracle of modern technology, all eligible students will automatically receive free Ram Van passes throughout the academic term. This automated process uses your current course schedule to assign passes on a weekly basis. Carefully consider the below information prior to registration.
Passes will be automatically issued to qualified students on Wednesday mornings. The first issuance for Fall 2020 will be 8/26/2020 and will repeat on a weekly basis.
Qualifications
- If you are a resident in Fordham housing and are currently enrolled in a class at an alternate campus, then you are eligible to receive free passes.
- If you are a commuter student and are currently enrolled in classes at more than one campus simultaneously, then you are eligible to receive free passes.
- Note: If you do not live in Fordham housing you are considered a commuter student, regardless of the proximity of your residence to any campus.
- Passes are assigned using the student’s home campus as the departure point.
- For resident students, the home campus is determined by the location of their residence
- For commuter students, the home campus is determined entirely by their school of enrollment.
- NOTE: Free passes are not eligible for professors’ office hours, group meetings with classmates, breaks between classes, nor travel for work in between classes. Please keep this in mind when creating your class schedule.
Using Your Digital Pass
- Log in to our online reservation system using this link. You can also access the reservation system via our main website or the official Fordham app (available for iOS and Android).
- Your available passes, used passes, and active reservations should appear on the main page.
Using your pass is simple. Please see this brief video for a demonstration:
Disputes
If you have examined the qualifications above and feel you are eligible for free travel and have verified that passes have not been added to your account, please submit a Pass Request Form using this link. Disputes will take 2-4 days to process, during which students are responsible for their own travel. If an error is found, the student will be reimbursed for any Ram Van expenses following the submission of the form. Receipts must be provided for reimbursement.

March 15, 2017at 10:10 pmHello,
If my daughter lives near Lincoln Center and she is signed up for a math class that meets Mon-thurs from 1-4 pm during Session 1, does she qualify for a free round trip pass to the Rose Hill campus as she will be a commuter student? Also, how long does the van take to go from Lincoln Center to the Rose Hill Campus?

April 10, 2017at 9:59 pmHi Elizabeth,
If your daughter is enrolled only in courses at Rose Hill, she would unfortunately not be eligible for free travel. Students must be taking courses at both campuses or residing in on-campus residence halls to be eligible.
We usually advise budgeting an hour for travel from LC to RH. While travel time will often be much less than that, New York traffic is unpredictable and it’s best to be prepared!
Best,
The Ram Van Team

September 22, 2018at 4:11 pmTo whom it may concern,
Will I get free passes for tutoring and grading for LC classes, while all my classes are taken at RH? Thank you in advanced for your help.

September 24, 2018at 2:50 pmHello Yuanxin,
If you are compensated in any way (tuition remission, hourly pay, stipend, etc.) the department that you are tutoring / grading for is responsible for providing passes. If this is not the case, feel free to reach out to ramvan@fordham.edu and provide a screenshot of your academic schedule and supporting information.
